St Albans Folk Festival generates strongest ticket sales in three years

30 March 2025 – The St Albans Folk Festival is withstanding industry trends with its third year of increased ticket sales. Held annually over the ANZAC Day long weekend in the heritage village of St Albans NSW, the Festival’s strong performance has allowed it to expand its 2025 offerings whilst maintaining its intimate atmosphere. ‘In over forty years, St Albans has only been cancelled due to natural disasters and the Covid pandemic,’ said Joe Russell, the Festival’s director and treasurer. ‘This year’s robust ticket sales reflect the grassroots appeal and genuine authenticity of St Albans Folk Festival, which has always built a strong connection between artists, patrons and the village itself.’ ‘Small festivals that have community at their heart are doing well,’ agreed Anthony Woolcott, assistant festival director. ‘St Albans has always been about people coming together. The Festival began with gatherings at the Settlers Arms Inn to share music and stories, a tradition still at the heart of “S’nalbans”.’ In 2025 the Festival will play host to a diverse range of musicians, dancers, and singers performing traditional and contemporary folk music, including the Celtic and Scandinavian arrangements of Apolline, the high-octane Ungus Ungus Ungus, and the soulful vocals of We Mavericks. Special programming for children at the KidsFest ensures that there is something for everyone at this family-friendly festival. Framed by the dramatic scenery of the Macdonald Valley, the Festival is held in the picturesque village of St Albans itself. Performances are staged in historic venues including the Settlers Arms, a Georgian coach house built in 1836; the church of Saint Alban the Martyr, built in 1897; as well as in the local School of Arts, built in 1936. St Albans Folk Festival runs 25-27 April 2025 in St Albans near Wisemans Ferry, about 90 minutes from Sydney. Patrons can visit for a day or camp over the weekend, tickets from $65.
